Here you can find some info about Watz Racing, with rider Freddie, from the start in 1997 up to today...

1997

This was the first year Fredrik ever tried roadracing. We had the oppotunity to borrow a Yamaha TZ 250-96 from our friend Pallander, and the deal for the loan was to make an entry for the Danish Championship at Mantorp Park here in Sweden - so we did, and Freddie was the first rider over the start and finish line with around 15 sec. to the rider on second place. After that we bought the bike and went on with racing - what else could we have done :-) We have been involved in racing for many years, our father was a very succesfull rider back in the 70īs and 80īs, but Freddie had never raced himself until this year.

When you start racing in Sweden you start with a so called B-license, and then you have to gain a certain number of points to be upgraded to an A-license. But Fredrik was so much faster then the other riders in the B-group after this first race, so the federation upgraded him directly - so then Freddie became on of very few riders in the history to get an A-license after just one race.

1998

First year we raced all season.

Swedish Championship - 4th place in total

Nordic Championship - 7th place in total

1999

Swedish Championship - 8th place in total

Nordic Championship - 3rd place in total

2000

Not a good season - Fredrik broke his neck in the beginning of the season and was recovering the rest of the year.

2001

Back again with the neck in good condition.

Swedish Championship - Champion

Nordic Championship - 3rd place in total

2002

First season for us in the European Championship. After 8 races all over Europe we ended up at 7th place in total standings. A very good result for us. And even that all focus was on the European we had some time to take part in some of the Swedish and Nordic races, but not all of them, and the result there was quite good anyway :-)

Nordic Championship - Champion

Swedish Championship - 2nd place in total

Circuit record - Cartagena (Spain)

2003

Started the season in the worst kind of way... In the early springtime Freddie prepared for the season by riding some Supermoto, and that was not such a good idea as he crashed and broke some ribs and due to that he had to be still for some weeks. Then we got our new Yamaha TZ 250, and on the first test we had some technical problems that caused a new crash for Fredrik, and this time he broke his hip. So you can see the start of season 2003 was not coming out as we had planned it :-) But some races we could take part in, and also was riding one GP race at Estoril in Portugal this year. Even that the start of the season was quite bad Fredrik managed to take home the Swedish Championship title for the second time and some new circuit records at both Karlskoga and Knutstorp circuit here in Sweden.

2004

This year all our focus was on the European Championship, and besides that some GP races also. Over all we had a very good season and Freddie ended the European Championship at 2nd place in the total standing, just some few points behind Alvaro Molina from Spain. This Silver for Fredrik was historical here in Sweden as he was the first 250cc rider ever who had managed to be so high up in the European Championship.

We also got a wild-card start at the GP at Donington in the UK, but due to technical problems he never made it out on the starting grid for the race. We also got an offer from Mr Kiefer in 250 GP, to replace his rider Klaus Nohles at the last GP of the year at Valencia in Spain. This was the first time ever for Freddie to ride a Honda 250cc bike, not so easy to adjust to, but anyway Fredrik was quite fast on the track and improved his lap times every session. In the race he had to retire after around 8 laps due to that the bike broke down, but still the Castrol-Kiefer Team was very impressed and happy with Fredrik.

2005

This year Fredrik started in 4 GP races - China, France, Italy and Spain for a German 250cc Team. Also we took part in som European races in Portugal and Spain for an Italian 250cc team, Roma Racing.

2006

2nd place at the European Championship at Assen (The Netherlands) was the best result of this year.

2007

We were in USA for the first time and took part in the first Supersport 600 races at Daytona International Speedway. He won a CCS/ASRA race from start at 14th position on the grid, and by that he became the first Swedish rider ever to do that. Also Fredrik won the only European Championship race we took part in, at Karlskoga circuit here in Sweden.

2008

We have been in USA one time this year and raced in the AMA Supersport 600cc-series, first at Barber Motorsports Park and then at Auto Club Speedway in California. Freddie became 15th rider over the finish line in both races. The next race after that was the GP at Assen together with Jaap Kingma Racing Team. Fredrik was the only wild card rider in the 250cc class and first time ever on an Aprilia 250cc bike. Very nice week in Holland together with all friends and he improved on every session as he was learning the bike more.
